Group Chief Information Officer,
Darryl West is HSBC’s Group Chief Information Officer and Group General Manager (GGM), heading up the bank’s Technology function.
Darryl is leading the transformation of HSBC Technology to be the world’s leading financial services technology team, overseeing a function of approximately 43,000 people spread across 54 locations.
Darryl has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services, holding senior level positions with global organisations such as JP Morgan Chase, Accenture and the National Australia Group Europe.
Prior to HSBC, Darryl worked at Barclays PLC where he was Group Chief Information Officer and Lloyds Banking Group as CIO, where he played a leading role in the integration of Lloyds TSB and Halifax Bank of Scotland and led the transformation of its IT organisation. In recognition of this work, he received a 2013 NASSCOM Global Leadership Award for Business Transformation using IT.
Darryl graduated first in his class at Deakin University in Australia and has a bachelor of commerce with
majors in Accountancy and Computer Science. He is a Fellow of Australia’s Institute of Chartered Accountants.
